PLAIN LANGUAGE CASE SUMMARY
Tom Ronnkvist filed a claim against North Point Computers (NPC) alleging he paid for a computer and did not receive it. NPC disputes that allegation.
NPC's records show Tom paid for a refurbished Pentium II system intended to support integration/testing of his legacy ISA cards for a welding controller project. NPC also performed substantial diagnostic and support work over time. Tom did not complete payment for outstanding labor charges and did not complete pickup/delivery of all items associated with the project.
From March 2024 through May 2025, Tom made multiple visits and communications relating to the project, received services, and was aware work was being performed. In July 2024, Tom retrieved his original PC and ISA cards before resolving the outstanding labor balance. In September 2024, Tom returned for additional service (including hard drive-related work). In April 2025, Tom demanded a refund and asserted claims inconsistent with NPC's documentation and prior communications.
NPC's position is that the work was performed under NPC's posted store policies, including policies stating that special-order items and labor are non-refundable.
NPC is asserting a counterclaim for unpaid labor charges reflected in its records.
